Sarah Janus

Sarah is a graduate of the University of Delaware where she received her degree in History with minors in Dance (distinguished with honors), Theatre, and Educational Studies.  She received her early training at Stage Lights Dance Studio where she took classes in Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, and Modern.  Sarah began working for Appoquinimink School District as a choreographer for many schools’ theatre departments.  She choreographed a variety of shows including: High School Musical, Beauty and the Best, Hairspray, Copacabana, White Christmas, and Anything Goes.  As a student at UD, Sarah involved herself in all things dance!  She was awarded multiple scholarships for her undergraduate research in arts integration and dance education as an ArtsBridge Scholar.  Her research combined with her active membership to the National Dance Education Organization, afforded her opportunities to travel around the nation to present her work to leading dance education professionals.   In 2012 Sarah was part of an elite UD team that partnered with Indigenous Pitch Dance Collective and traveled to New Orleans, LA to fund, organize, and run free dance camps for at-risk youth.  As an undergrad, she also joined Harrington Theatre Arts Company serving as a resident member performing, directing, and choreographing for the company.  Credits include: Footloose, RENT, Crazy for You, Little Shop of Horrors, and Legally Blonde.  Sarah is a proud member of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA).  Membership denotes leadership in the UD dance community through extensive scholarly, artistic, and outreach work. Currently Sarah is working for the DIEEC at the University of Delaware, and assisting the UD Dance Minor with the establishment of Outreach Programming.  She also teaches at SLDS and works with the SLDS Competition team.  Sarah has been teaching and choreographing for nearly a decade and cannot imagine her life without love of dance!
